The cover letter provides you with an opportunity to introduce yourself, state your objective and highlight information that is relevant to the posted position and specific needs of the employer. Your opening paragraph should state the purpose of the letter, the position you are applying for and how you learned about the opportunity. The second paragraph should highlight your qualifications and pique the interest of the employer so that he or she will read your resume and schedule an interview. The closing paragraph should clearly explain your planned course of action.
